Manifold Vac Takeoff....
Hi all,
Within the next month or so, Matilda will be having her 1275GT engine dropped in for a while, while we rebuild the horrifically smoky 1098 that is in her.
One thought though.... as it's from a 1979 GT, there wont be a hole for the servo vac take off banjo connection in the Manifold.
Looking at the 1098cc manifold we have here (we used the A+ manifold from the original 998cc), there is a flatted off section where the hole should be on there. I'm assuming the 1275 manifold will be roughly the same, so it's suitable for drilling & tapping to accept the bolt.
However.... does anybody know what size hole & thread?
I'm assuming that it will probably be UNF or UNC... dont think I'm lucky enough to have a metric thread an the existing bolt!
Also, I'm not too sure about the Verto clutch fitting on the end of the crank.... I've a sneaking suspicion that the end of the crank is fatter on the 1275... can anyone confirm this? the 998cc Verto unit fitted straight on to the 1098 A series crank. And there were doubting Thomases that said it couldnt be done!!
The 1275 has a brand new B&B clutch kit on it, never been run, so if push comes to shove, I'll have to source an inertia starter motor, as the flywheel teeth are different too. Anybody got a spare that they would part with? I can pick up a brand new soleniod for a fiver, so that isnt an issue!
As usual, any advice appreciated!
